  Hello my name is Yariel Sanchez, I am an eighteen year old boy from Puerto Rico and I am an IT systems and security major at GGC. When I am not doing my duties as a student I personally enjoy playing my PS5 or playing basketball with my friends. I am also into fashion and second-hand apparel better known as thrifting the idea of finding old vintage clothing and making it look new again to me is something I find fun and helps me relieve stress from day to day life. I am also into cars especially from Japan because my dad showed influenced me from a young age and now that I have my own Japanese car it has only continued to fuel my love for these cars and it has shown me that i want to work hard so I can be able to do things to my car and get it the way I want.

  Getting To Know Your Island      The U.S. Virgin Islands consist of three main islands St. Croix, St.Thomas, St. John and 50 smaller islets and cays. The island has a rich history just like many other countries in the Caribbean. What mainly stood out to me and what could be a good topic for my research project is that the islands inhabitants were enslaved and sold off as slaves as well. Although, this time it wasn't conquered by just country it was multiple such as Spain, Great Britain, The Netherlands, France, and Denmark-Norway. HISTORY OF PUERTO RICO   Puerto Rico has always had a very interesting historical background when it came to the Modern Era.  Christopher Columbus arrived in Puerto Rico in 1493 it remained an overseas province of Spain until 1898 during the Spanish-American war and was then taken over by the United States. During the life time of the Island there have been multiple groups that have settled on the island for example the tainos were the indigenous people of Puerto Rico and had been there up to 1000 years before Christopher Columbus had arrived on the island. Once Christopher Columbus got there he brought the second group of settlers and they stayed there for some time so they could make goods that they needed.  Introduction to the USVI        The U.S. virgin islands have been controlled and sold by multiple countries throughout its history but there have only been a select few that have left a lasting impact on the islands forever. One main reason that the Dutch initially traveled to the U.S. virgin islands is because they were strategically laid between Dutch colonies in the south and New Netherlands. The Dutch saw the promise the islands had to create infrastructure as well as a center for trade which would then make their nations wealthier. The spark of interest shown by the Dutch would bring many other nations to the islands through the years to see who would end up in control of them.
