La Isla Del Encanto

La Isla Del Encanto

The island of Puerto Rico is one full of a rich culture an amazing history and you'll find some of the nicest and most approachable people there. The island of Puerto Rico itself is located right next to Cuba and is relatively small compared to it but although the island lacks in size it makes up for it in culture and fun things to do. If you are considering traveling to this beautiful island there are some things you might want to know before planning a trip. There a plenty of beaches all over the island that are perfect to go to for a nice long day on the beach with your family, friends or significant other. A good choice would be Flamenco Beach which is located on the island of Culebra which is a Puertorican Municipality. While at Flamenco beach if you wanted to you are allowed to camp on the beach overnight I have been told that it is a great experience and if you ever have the chance it is highly recommended. Another classic spot is El Yunque National Forest this is a protected forest in Puertorico and is respected highly throughout the entire Island. I have been multiple times and it is a sight to behold and the scenery around you is something out of a movie. The amount of wildlife in the forest itself is immense and if you are lucky enough you are able to hear the song of the Puertorican Coqui

which is also the National animal of Puerto Rico there used to be millions of these frogs but now there are only seventeen species left and the song is easily identifiable because, it is loud and sounds as if they are singing their own names.  These places are good tourists attractions but there are certain places on the Island that a tourist should never go to the main one is La Perla. While the houses look colorful and inviting this section of The Old San Juan is a historical Shantytown on the outskirts of San Juan this area has be known to have a violent history of drugs and is dangerous because there is a decent amount of crime that happens there although it has a bad history there are people that are trying to change the image and begin to allow tourists to visit. While in Puerto Rico I recommend visiting Viejo San Juan it is also a historic section of the island with colorful houses dating back to the 16th century including El Morro and San Cristobal Fortresses. These are common attractions and they provide intense detail as to the Culture and History of Puerto Rico and it's people.
